NORTHEAST PUBLICATIONS TO LAUNCH HOME MAGAZINE

Northeast Publications in Dennisport announces the launch of a home-improvement magazine aimed at providing homeowners on Cape Cod and the islands with a practical resource for making home-improvement concepts a reality.

Cape Cod and the Islands Home Remodeling will feature accessible “before and after” articles of local remodeling projects, sound advice from area home-improvement professionals, information on the latest home products and a list of verified contractors who can bring the customer’s ideas to life. “Most homeowners can relate to the challenge of finding reliable, quality and available contractors for hire,” says Publisher Paul W. Reiss Jr. “With this new magazine, we hope to educate homeowners about all facets of home remodeling and help them connect with those service providers who are reputable and available to tackle the project.

When undertaking a major home-improvement project, homeowners face a daunting array of decisions. Cape Cod and the Islands Home Remodeling aims to demystify the process by leading readers through real-life projects undertaken by their neighbors. Other articles will discuss the nitty-gritty of home improvement, such as signing contracts and dealing with local regulatory agencies. And the magazine will provide a directory of contractors whose credentials have been verified, then checked by an independent agency.

I wish this magazine had been around when I began remodeling my own home seven years ago,” says Laurie Kaiser, editorial consultant for Cape Cod and Islands Home Remodeling. “Most home-improvement magazines present beautiful ideas and then leave the reader to figure out how to implement them. I turned to the phone book and rolled the dice. Some contractors worked out well; others didn’t. Most home magazines sell the dream. This magazine will help the reader make the dream a reality by offering practical information.

To be published twice annually, Cape Cod and the Islands Home Remodeling is expected to have initial circulation figures of 30,000 to 40,000. The magazine will be available at newsstands, by subscription and through select real estate firms, home-improvement contractors and suppliers of home products.

The home-remodeling market continues to grow, especially on Cape Cod. Within the next decade, the home-improvement market is expected to eclipse the market for new home construction. The home-improvement market is expected to grow 10 percent per year, according to the US Census Bureau, rising to $300 billion in overall industry expenditures. On the Cape, the market is forecast to grow faster than the national average, as the availability of buildable lots declines.
